We left the Cadillac dealer and drove down the road to the Volvo dealer. A friend of Tia’s had an EX90 and loves it.
Now.
He has a 2025 and when he first got it, he said there were a number of software issues. He almost returned it, but he worked through them and now loves the car. He actually bought EX60s for his kids.
When we went in the dealership, I was a bit annoyed that no one came to see us. It was just after lunch, and a Monday. Maybe they were just understaffed, but it annoyed us. Fortunately there was an EX90 in the showroom so we could sit in it, look at the interior, etc.
The first thing Tia loved was the seats. They expand in the front, like my X5. Perfect for someone that has long femurs. The seats were also really comfortable. I didn’t think they were better than the Cadillac, but they were very nice.
The interior was more Model S-ish, minimalist with a large center screen and a small one above the steering wheel. A few buttons, but most things were in the center screen.
It was also very tall and boxey. Like my old Isuzu Trooper. Way nicer, but boxey.
Driving was a surprise. It was very smooth and nimble. This felt like a BMW as in it’s fun to drive and easy to maneuver. A better ride than the Lyriq, but also taller and more of a car. This felt like a petrol SUV in many ways, with a few things moved to a screen instead of the old physical controls.
However, it’s an old man’s car. It only comes with 3 rows and while they fold flat, the back of the seats is still there.
It’s a nice car, but not for me. I stopped considering this partway through our test drive.
