It is rough, at least it feels that way this time. I was struggling to get up at 7:30, and then too tired to run. I wanted to, but with the short time, I was exhausted, my eyes are bloodshot, just a bit too much. plus with a sore ankle and work to do, I skipped it.

Conferences are long and this one was a bit like the MVP one, not any breaks until late in the evening, and by then you've had a beer or two and it's not conducive to running.

Older stuff in the Archives. Also, check out the Photo Gallery.

One Year Ago

Thoughts from the dkRanch archives, what was happening a year ago (or pretty close to it).

Ow( Health - 9/5/2007 6:55:11 PM)

I was feeding horses today, done with grain, when I opened Gemini's stall with a few flakes of hay. It was really windy tonight, a storm rolling in, and the flaps were jumping. They must have cracked the wall because he jerked up from his grain and I saw it.

It was slow motion, his hindquarters raised up, the hoof extended, and I realized I'd been kicked as I was falling down into the stall wall. He ran out and I managed to get up and close his stall before laying on the ground for a few minutes.

Just to the right of my belly button there's a nice red imprint of a hoof and it aches. Not too bad, nothing broken, guess my abs are fairly strong. I realized they tensed as I got hit and took a lot of the impact.

So apparently I need to feed him a little differently, make sure I'm not behind him anymore.

Rusty( Health - 9/5/2007 9:29:27 AM)

I had a week off and Delaney 4, so we were both rusty at karate. He was sluggish at first, and it makes me a little crazy not to see his intensity all the time, but he does get better as the class goes on. I can see him starting his 10 count blocking set slowly and then building by 5 and 6 into strong blocking.

Need to work with him outside of class. He was practicing his Aikido rolls last night and getting better. He really wants to learn how to do that.

I was really rusty and with 3 new people, we moved slow. We had 4 lines and the first 2 demo'd a lot of stuff, which was good since I didn't and watched more. I could feel my crosses swinging a bit wide with the elbow rising. Just couldn't concentrate well.

I also tweaked the left hammy slightly. I could feel it a little and switched out of kicks to avoid issues. One last baseball game and I want to play.

What is this place?

This is my personal site that covers my interests, writing and thoughts. I used to have an emphasis on SQL Server, but most of my work in this area is available at SQL Server Central. This site is dedicated to my kids: Kyle ( 16 ) , Delaney ( 9 ) , and Kendall ( 7 ) .
