Got an email from Tia this morning. She drove on the autobahn yesterday in a Mercedes Kompressor. Not that that's so cool, but she hit 230km.hour. Over 140mph!
Wow, that's fast. Never actually gone that fast in a land vehicle. I've hit 110 in a car I was driving, not sure in a few some others were driving and I've done 100mph on a motorcycle. And 60mph on a bicycle.
And I'm done.
Not really a speed freak, I tried it and it doesn't really do that much for me. In fact, most of the time I'm fairly nervous. I much prefer doing 40 on a windy road or accelerating from 0 - 50 and then cruising. Not sure I'd really want to go 140mph in anything.
for my little girl. She was kind of crabby last night when I got home, didn't want me to cut the grass. I suspected she was getting sick, but she wasn't looking too bad when I put her to bed.
But then as I was trying to finish some work, she was whining in her bed, asleep, rolling around. I put my arm next to her and in her sleep she'd caress it up and down. A couple times of doing that for 5 minutes and I gave up and brought her to bed. This was around 11 and an hour later, she was crying in her sleep and woke me up. With a nice fever.
Some Motrin and an hour later, she was cooling off. Scary for me. Hate to have her that hot. She was miserable, would say "blanket", then immediately throw it off her. finally she started to feel better and I was dropping off. All of a sudden I wake up to something pulling at the back of my shirt. Now since I sleep at the edge of the bed and I was facing the middle of the bed, I was a little confused.
Then I heard "'mere". Kendall was on the floor wanting me to get up. I started to and she ran into the hall. I walk to the door and she's looking back, then heading to the stairs. I tell her no and she says "play". I say no and walk back to the bed. A couple minutes later she came in and climbed in the bed.
We then went through that for a few more gyrations until she dropped off with me an hour later. But she didn't sleep in, she was up aroudn 7, wel half up, she was caressing and rubbing my arm. Delaney whined a few times then came in and asked for his bottle. I was trying to get away, but Kendall didn't want my arm to leave. After 10 minutes, I gave up and brought her downstairs and got a botttle for each of them.
After that she seemed great. Delaney was in a good mood and running and jumping in my room with Kendall following right behind him. Then she ate some breakfast so I think she's ok.
Watched a little of the NBA last night. The Pistons - 76ers was only slightly interesting. When I got to it, the Pistons were pulling away. It was a little disconcerting to see Billups hurting. Didn't see the injury, but I'm rooting for Detroit and I wonder if they can win without him. It sure will change the series.
I'm not really an Iverson guy, though you have to admire him. A 6 foot nothing scrawny guy that makes things happen. He works for every point and is amazing. Not really a role model, but someone who works hard. Every night. Even down by 10 with 50 sec left, he was working. Like Stockton, but not like him, Iverson is something. He's also from my hometown. I remember when he was in high school and was all state QB and point guard. Then he got in trouble with the law and sent to a reform school. I don't really like him, but from what I understood about the case, it didn't seem fair.
I did watch more of the Kings - Mavs game, mostly the end of the first half and some of the 3rd, but it wasn't really a game. Dallas couldn't hit shots, which was brutal to their outside game and the Kings rolled over them. It wasn't even close though Dallas apparently got it under 20 by the end of the game. I wonder how many starters were left. I don't think the Mavs cn win, but I hope they make it a series. Last night sure wasn't.
On the way in I was hearing about some reporter who apparently bashed Jason Kidd's wife for being a publicity hound. If I heard right, he said something about wanting to "smack her around". He was suspended and rightfully so. Kidd apparently didn't make waves, but he should pop the guy in the mouth if he sees him.
at 11:00am. Doing pretty good, but I'm didn't work out yesterday and not sure about today. I should go get my car registered, but I'm dragging a little.
I found interesting. OK, I'm slightly bored. Actually, I'm beat, so
One on interoperting software. Most of the comments are similar to my experiences. People don't plan or they plan, but the requirements change, something that happens quite often. Or, something that I think often also happens, you learn some things. And you realize you need to redesign.
Plus as I mentioned yesterday, things are incredible complex. Too complex for anyone to know all the interactions, so people do things like setting tight parameters for the use of their software, or at least their support.
Preserving VHS Recordings For Another 20 Years? - Some interesting comments from (supposedly) TV guys. Not sure what's better, but the typical rants from /.ers. Disagree, use this, this is better. It's tough to read at times, but at least you are more informed and can go verify or check on information.
Microsoft Sued for defective software in South Korea. While there may be things to sue them for, the SQL Slammer worm isn't one of them. They issues a patch in what seems like a reasonable time and many people didn't patch things. There is some confusion about whether a subsequent patch undid this.
Want a good debate? Read this about the iPod v a Creative MP3 player. People get all bent about this.
Last one - Debate and link about the RIAA settling with college students. Again, I'm not sure where we should stand on MP3 trading, but for sure this suit was fiarly groundless and an obvious pub stunt by the RIAA.
I forgot to note this this morning, but I couldn't let it go. Should have written it last night.
I had to take a few minutes in the bathroom last night. Since Kendall was still up, I left her in her room with books and told her to bring one to my room when she was ready. She never showed.
When I finished I went looking for her and found her and Kyle in Kyle's bed with him reading her a story. It was the cutest thing, under the covers together with Kyle reading. I grabbed a picture, I'll post it soon.
Then when I got her to bed I went downstairs and found Kyle and Delaney playing Spyro again together, each helping the other out and taking turns. Kyle is really a great brother to these guys, watching out for them and more often than not, he's really good with them. So much so that Delaney was crying the other night because he had to go to bed and he wanted to be just like Kyle. Even tonight he didn't eat pasta and red sauce choosing butter and cheese instead.
