2006

The first year of high school and it was a good first half for Kyle. He is doing well in school, is getting more social with friends and is doing better in life. He came out this year, finally admitting to himself he's gay and it seems to have made him happier.

He also started cooking dinner most nights as we started subscribing to Dream Dinners to make things easier.

2004

A rough year. Kyle struggled in school as we have him his independence. No nagging for homework, showering, teeth, etc. As expected it rapidly declined, but in many areas, he tightened up. He brushes regularly (maybe not every night), but more than we thought. He does shower, but school wasn't great.

Still he's growing up, started playing hockey, two seasons and getting ready to start a third in September 2004. Roller hockey and he improved and enjoyed it way more than I thought.

He's getting older and has offered to start babysitting, so we'll see how that goes.

2003

Kyle is the oldest child at the Ranch. An academic, science, and nature kid. Kyle loves his imagination that hours of entertainment he gets. He's becoming quite the pianist and it makes me happy to watch him read more and more. However, he still has some time for fun

Growing up more and more each day. Kyle's a great big brother, taking great care of the Kendall and being nice to Delaney most of the time.

Kyle gave up on piano (my last good picture above), but did chorus in 5th grade. He also transitioned from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. He seemed excited at first, then wanted to quit, but we made him keep going and as of early May, he's gone on 2 camping trips with them, none of the parents with him./p>

He's started to play some video games, mostly Spyro with Delaney, but it's neat to have him not just watching TV. He's also getting more responsible. Got more to learn, but I was late getting home the other day and he was doing his homework on his own, unsupervised. Proud of him for that. He even brought me a science test the other day that he'd gotten 100 on without me asking about school.

Here's Kyle from out 2003 summer trip to Disney taking a few minutes to chill with Pluto.

2002

Almost 10 and trying to be a teenager. Kyle really matured this past year and is a great help with the little kids. Especially Kendall, whom he adores. After a little prodding from his parents, Kyle is spending more time roller blading and probably outblades the parents at this point. Soon he'll be able to outrun them as well.

Kyle reads more and more this year and even finished a couple Clive Cussler novels. It is one way that Dad and Kyle can really connect. He's as excited about his school play this year as I've ever seen him and has recently started to go to the local teen club on Saturday nights (Ages 9-16). The first one was quite a shock to him, but since then he constantly wants to go, so we're down to 2 kids most Saturdays at the ranch.
